Yakuza 7 RPG Yakuza: Like A Dragon January 2020

Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio have formally unveiled Yakuza 7, and information technology's a major exit from the rest of the series.

The latest entry in the series will star new protagonist Ichiban Kasuga, who takes the fall for a crime he didn't commit, spends 18 years in prison, and is and then just about murdered by his boss. After his manque execution, Kasuga ends up in the port city of Yokohama, the new stage setting for the game and second major shakeup.

The series had previously been confined mostly to the fictional Tokyo neighborhood of Kamurocho, supported the Kabukicho red light district of the Japanese uppercase. The new setting, the fictional Isezaki Ijincho district, leave reportedly be three times the size of Kamurocho.

The biggest twist to the Yakuza formula yet is that the series is trading free-for-all fighting for a turn-based JRPG combat organization. A screenshot on the game's regular Japanese web site shows Kasuga teaming up with several opposite characters to form a Final Fantasy-elan party, which is squaring off against several thugs. Amusingly, Sega showed polish off Yakuza 7's turn-based battle back in April, disguising it as an April Fools' caper.

Yakuza 7 comes out Jan. 6, 2020, in Japan, China, and Korea. Information technology will Be released in North America and Europe under the name Yakuza: The likes of A Dragon later the same year.
